    --------------------------------------------------WELCOME TO BRITI DIRECT------------------------------------------------

Briti's Beginnings:

The Italian Motor Manufacturer, Fiat, built the Briti Factory in 1950.
Corobrick bought Briti and was later sold in 1990 to Jurie Potgieter who is the current owner.

Briti:

An Italian word, which means: Fired Earth

Briti’s quality

Our unique Terracotta Clay is mined at our own quarry. Our Clay has been analysed and proven to be over 3500 million years old. Our Clay is known as "Karoo Deposit" (sometimes "Kalahari Deposit") and is found nowhere else but at our quarry.

Once the clay has been mined, it is then ripened for 9 to 18 months. Only after this extremely important maturing process will the clay be used in our products.

All Briti tiles are extruded not pressed, wire cut, hand packed and fired in duff fed kilns. The techniques we use to manufacture all our products are over 80 years old. We are the only factory left in the world, which still produces tiles in this manner, and it is a combination of these techniques, together with our unique clay, which defines the look and quality of a Briti tile.

Our tiles are 70% hand made and depending on the product, can take up to six weeks to get from the raw materials to the final product.

Because of our unique production techniques Briti Tiles are not precision tiles. We are proud to offer our customers a rustic, all-natural organic product which will add character, warmth and a unique and beautiful finish to any home.

Tiles:
Tiles are fired at temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1300 degrees centigrade.
Briti tiles contain no colorants or dyes. The colour of our product is 100% Natural. Regular tiles are a standard terracotta colour whilst our Antique range is fired for longer, thus giving coloration changes in the tiles. This results in a mottled effect on the floor or roof.
